Five elements and emotional balance

The Five Elements, which are Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal and Water, represent all matter’s fundamental qualities in the Universe. The Chinese term for Element is Xing. Xing means to walk or move, and therefore the word “Element” is somewhat misleading because it implies something more akin to a basic constituent of matter. In Chinese Medicine, an Element is a process, movement or quality of Qi. Qi is energy. The Movement can represent the Creation, Overreacting, Insulting and Destruction cycle.

The movement for the Creation cycle (Sheng):

  • Wood creates Fire by burning
  • Fire creates Earth from ashes
  • Earth creates metal by hardening (Metal in this context is synonymous with rock or one found within the Earth)
  • Metal creates Water by containment
  • Water creates Wood by nourishment.

The movement for the Destruction cycle (Ke):

  • Fire controls Metal by melting
  • Metal controls Wood by cutting
  • Wood controls Earth by covering
  • Earth controls Water by damming
  • Water controls Fire by extinguishing

How does an Element manifest in emotions?

The Five elements resonate as an energetic link with the colours, sound, odour and emotions. Movements of Qi that resonates with the emotions. We can observe the movements in the body language changes, voice tone, expression in the eyes, facial colour, and many other aspects of an individual. Excessive movement, for example, the person very easily becoming aggressive. A lack of movement is also a sign of imbalance. For example, the person may fail to respond significantly to warmth and joy.

How does an imbalance in an Element manifest in emotions and behaviour?

When considering the link between a person’s behaviour and the element, an imbalance in the Element manifests in small but detective differences in a person’s emotional state (as well as colour, sound and odours).

This emotional imbalance will cause people to react to situations differently to shape how they react to events during different developmental phases in their lives.

We would say that emotion usually involves three things:

1. Bodily sensations (to which people can become habituate and hardly feel)

2. Some cognitive element, for example, interpretative perception based on memory, and

3. Motivational properties in that an emotion tends to play a role in impelling activities.

How can the coaching session help the five elements balancing?

In the first session, we can evaluate the unbalance of your life’s emotions and areas. With the resonance test, we can identify the first element to balance after analysing the next area to balance according to the cycle of creation and destruction.

I can help you to identify which is the element that is unbalanced and creates a balance in your life with some coaching techniques, for instance, one of among them is TFT (Thought Field Therapy®) – TFT (also sometimes referred to as “tapping”) is like a combination of Ancient Chinese Acupuncture and Modern Psychology. Instead of using needles to stimulate meridian points, though, you tap on your body with your fingertips. Besides, you focus on the “thought field” or whatever the problem is or your intention, such as absolute health and wellbeing.

Since your body is an energy system and the state of this energy system is significant to your health and well-being, correcting for imbalances with tapping will help to stimulate your natural vitality. For this specific case, you will tap to correct for any possible polarity reversals (or disrupted flow) you may have in your body’s energy field to experiencing absolute health and wellbeing, here and now.

Once you balance the five elements in your physical, emotional and mental bodies, you can live in abundance and alignment, increasing your empathy, wellbeing and ascending to a new level of your consciousness.
